The marathon social was opened Monday afternoon with a central works council (CEC) special dedicated to the factory of Belfort, historical birthplace of the railway builder, where 400 jobs, about 480 are under threat.

The CEO, Henri Poupart-Lafarge is expected to “outline the strategy of Alstom” in front of the representatives of the staff, who are waiting for long-term solutions for the site installed in Belfort since 1879, decrypts Daniel Dreger of the CGT.

“Is it that they will submit a plan for competitiveness, a plan with a dusting of charges on 12 sites in French?” if he asked to AFP, adding that “Mr. Poupart can’t wait until the end of the week without anything we say.”

for Lack of orders, the management announced on 7 September that it would stop within two years the production of trains to Belfort for the transfer to Reichshoffen, Alsace, france. Only the activity of maintenance would be maintained in the city of the franche-comté.

But seven months of the presidential election, the future of the site belfortain is immediately become a political issue. François Hollande has made its maintaining an “objective”, anxious to avoid an explosion similar to the closure of the blast furnaces of Florange, in Lorraine, in the beginning of the quinquennium.

After having denounced the announcement as “brutal” for Alstom, the government has promised “answers” here, “the end of the month” to save the factory, from where came out the first TGV in 1971 and on which we depend for nearly 900 indirect jobs.

The State, which holds 20% of the capital of Alstom, has a “duty to rescue” the company and Belfort, warned Sunday the number one of the CFDT, Laurent Berger, and fearful of the “cascade” on the whole of the rail sector.

on Tuesday, the “Alsthommes” would be heard. They are called in the strike and gather at 11: 00 a.m. in front of the headquarters of the group in Saint-Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis), where there will be a CEC ordinary.

The inter-union (CFE-CGC, CGT, CFDT, FO) symbolically chartered TGV high-speed trains for the occasion, so as to convey the employees of Belfort and Ornans (Doubs). Between “1,000 and 1,500 people” are expected, according to one of the organizers.

The same day, Mr. Poupart-Lafarge will be auditioned at the national Assembly by the economic Affairs committee.

His group refuses to discuss a social plan, to ensure that a “proposed transfer” to another plant Alstom will be formulated for each of the 400 employees affected.

The negotiations are conducted in secret between the State and the different companies may provide additional commands to the group.

behind the scenes, the government has put pressure on SNCF, requested to enter into an immediate negotiation with Alstom for the purchase of six TGV for the Paris-Turin-Milan.

“Of prospects, there are: the Grand Paris, the TGV of the future, the development of freight transport and of rail, rather than buses on the road as has been done by (former minister of the Economy Emmanuel) Macron”, advanced Pascal Novelin (CGT), on Saturday, at an event in Belfort.

The secretary of State for industry, Christophe Sirugue, should receive the unions in the week to make a point.

His office was contacted by the trade union organisations “in order to say they were still working on the record, that Alstom was working well with them and that they we would be informed at the end of the week,” reports the AFP Thierry Muller, representative of CFDT.

M. Sirugue “we were told +me You can judge on actions and not on words+. So we will go and see, and hear,” sliding-t-il.
