PARIS (Reuters) – Galeries Lafayette Haussmann Boulevard should be open every Sunday of the year to the end of 2016, after an unexpected judgment of the District Court of the Fourth District Paris.
After a year of battle with some hostile unions Sunday work, an agreement signed on 20 May by the CFE-CGC and CFTC will come into force.
The court judge instance, seized by the SCID – dissident union CFDT and opposed to Sunday work – the legitimacy of union representation within the department store, agreed with the CFDT
This latter. did not oppose the agreement of 20 May, it becomes applicable and allows Galeries Lafayette to launch employee consultation procedures.
“Our goal now is to open on Sunday from the end of 2016, “said a spokesman for the group.
the Galeries Lafayette would thus become the second largest Paris store can open on Sundays after BHV-Marais, who also belongs to the Galeries Lafayette where a similar agreement was approved.
