The next IMF Director General appointed by early March – The World

Appointed in July 2011 to head the IMF for a term of 5 years, Christine Lagarde has, on several occasions, called ‘open “the idea to seek its renewal. “I am ready to serve” , and had said in October that the ruling had succeeded Dominique Strauss-Kahn, carried away by a sex scandal. But the former minister of the economy has been referred to the French courts for his alleged “negligence” in the Crédit Lyonnais-Tapie case.

Under an unwritten rule, Europeans designate one of their own to head the IMF while Americans reserve the presidency of the World Bank. According to The Chained Duck published Wednesday Paris dream of pushing the candidature of Franco-Ivorian Tidjane, head of Credit Suisse, for dealing with the legal troubles of M me Lagarde. When asked by the US television network CNBC in Davos, the applicant has however denied, assuring be “highly concentrated” on its mission to Credit Suisse.
