The burn-out will not be automatically recognized as an occupational disease – The Tribune.fr

The draft recognition of burnout as an occupational disease is half-buried. As a reminder, this recognition of the syndrome of burnout did not appear more Monday, July 20 in the text adopted by the Senate, but the government should reintroduce in part by Thursday, July 23 at the National Assembly with a view to final adoption of the bill.

Wednesday, July 22, the Minister of Labour François Rebsamen said on Europe 1 that the social dialogue Act include “a start of recognition” the “burn-out”, but that burnout will not feature “in the table of occupational diseases.”

” Burn-out is a start of recognition. This is normal, it can exist. But this is not a disease that can appear in the list of occupational diseases, because it is not only related to the workstation. [...] I returned to regional committees which may, when there are very specific cases , reply, explained the Minister of Labour.

Specifically, recognition of burnout as an occupational disease will be decided case by case, it will not be automatic.

About two out of ten employees would suffer from burn-out

The burnout phenomenon is very present in the world of work if we are to believe the latest published studies. Nearly two out of ten employees (17%) admit to being personally affected by burnout, according to a survey by the Institute for Think consulting firm Great Place To Work, released Wednesday, January 7.

The first affected? Associate professionals, executives or managers (56%) and women (53%) and employees aged between 45 and 54 years (53%).
