Government request additional savings to departments. The daily Les Echos, the Prime Minister’s office had sent this weekend, framing letters to members of the government.

Matignon ask all except Education, Justice, the Interior, and, for the first time, Culture, decrease 1% wage expenditure and reduce 3% other expenses. The Ministries of Social Affairs and Employment will be content to lower their budget to 1%.

On April 15, Michel Sapin, Minister of Finance, and Christian Eckert, in charge of Budget, had the tone: public spending had to lighten 4 billion in 2015 and five in 2016 to compensate for low inflation. For the state portfolio is 1.2 billion this year and $ 1.6 billion next year. 2.8 billion in addition to what had already been decided in the Finance Planning Act, passed last fall, and as announced presidential mid-January, the need for finance law amendment.

Letters are framing the opening stage of budget discussions. They give the kick in the discussions, department by department, with Bercy, planned to spread out from May to late June. The adjustment of credit limits occurs during the summer.

According to the Echoes, Manuel Valls has retained a framework letter, the Ministry of Defence. Efforts which will be requested still depend on trade-offs that will be decided Wednesday at the Elysee in Defense Council
