The Agriculture Minister Stéphane Le Foll said Tuesday the employees’ representatives of pig slaughterhouse Gad Josselin (Morbihan), threatened with liquidation, Intermarche file a takeover bid by ten to fifteen days.

M. Le Foll “has confirmed Intermarche was very interested and that an offer should be made in late August, or at worst in the first few days of September,” said Patrick Piguel, central CFDT delegate, said at a press the output of a meeting at the ministry.

On Friday, the SVA Jean Roze, a subsidiary of the supermarket group Intermarket had reported being still interested in a takeover of the slaughterhouse, which employs 950 people .

“We are reassured because they are definitely a draft recovery will be filed (…). now remains to see the project content and scope of the times” completed Annick Le Guevel, CFDT delegate (majority in Josselin) works council.

No details on the contents of the offer of Intermarket, especially on the number of jobs that could be saved, was not disclosed during the meeting, according to participants.

“The goal is the maximum number of jobs, I do not have specific numbers. Our common goal is the sustainability of the site (…), but it has all that is within the scope of an economic model that is sustainable in the short and medium term, “said Mr. Le Foll during the same news conference, saying “cautiously optimistic.”

“We are in contact” with Intermarket, but “it is not we who are negotiating directly,” said he recalled.

The Minister announced the advance payment of the tax credit in 2015 to Gad, to allow continued activity pending the outcome of the proposed takeover.

Employee representatives have asked the minister to convey their request to meet with the leadership of Intermarket.

The management of the slaughterhouse Josselin announced Aug. 9 that it intends to initiate liquidation proceedings record.

Gad is a subsidiary of Cooperative Group morbihanais Cecab, best known for its canned D’Aucy.

Placed in receivership in February 2013 due to cash flow problems, Gad eliminated nearly 900 jobs next summer, mainly on its second slaughterhouse, Lampaul-Guimiliau (Finistère).
